Luke Valenti grew up in Redmond, OR where he came to know the Lord and learned that life was all about serving Jesus. He then went on to study music at San Diego Christian College where he also participated in various ministry opportunities the college offered. One of these ministries was VISION, a music-drama missions team that, every year, takes its performance program overseas. Luke's first VISION trip took him to the once-isolated Albania, where Luke saw first-hand a country devastated physically and spiritually by a history filled with Islam, followed by possibly the worst form of atheistic communism the world has ever seen. After seeing several Albanian villages lacking a present Christian witness, God began convicting Luke's heart of the need for more workers in a land desperate for evangelism and discipleship. This conviction for world-missions only grew in Luke's heart and, after graduating with a music degree in 2008, God opened a door for Luke to return to Albania and serve as a missionary there.
Luke Valenti is a part of the missions organization Open Air Campaigners Albania and is serving in the Evangelical Church of Korca, a city located in Southeast Albania. Still in his first year in Albania, Luke is focusing on learning the language and training to work in the villages. Part of this training is assisting an existing Albanian youth ministry team as they reach out to the large village of Pojan, located about 20 min outside of Korca. Currently, Luke is helping the team expand their ministry in Pojan by assisting them to launch and grow a Jr. High ministry. This includes everything from starting and developing a regular youth-group meeting just for Jr. Highers, as well as special visits to the village to spend time with the youth and their families. Luke's goal is to leave an Albanian team in Pojan that will be passionate about seeing Jr. Highers and their families come to know and grow in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Please pray for Luke as he continues to learn, grow, and serve the Albanians for Christ. |
