Galatians 5:24-26 "And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another."
This is in the aorist tense, therefore it refers to a past action that has a continuing effect. It is interesting that this follows the description of the Fruit of the Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit is not something we do through self-effort but the result of His living His life through us. We who are in Christ have crucified the flesh. This doesn't mean the flesh doesn't exist for the self-life certainly exist but we have a whole new relationship to it. We are no longer left to our own resources (the flesh) but live from the very life of God. We who live in the Spirit are to live from the Spirit. We are to moment by moment allow Him to live through us.
Colossians 3:3 "For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
We must resist every temptation to think that we must somehow die to ourselves for we have been crucified. You can't crucify yourself, it must be done to you. We are called to reckon ourselves in Christ dead already. Being now dead to the flesh life of self-sufficiency let's walk as we live from the very life of God who died for us, that He might live in us, for the purpose of living His life through us.
I'm praying for you and trust Father to work mightily in and through you as you live from Him. I hope you'll take every opportunity to be involved in small group on Thursday night and attend one of the Sunday School classes. These are great opportunities to grow in grace.
